Pak, India likely to resume hockey series after Olympics

Lahore—The newly appointed Adhoc committee of the Indian Hockey Federation has shown keen interest to revive bileteral series with Pakistan after Beijing Olympics.  In a telephonic message here on Wednesday, an official of the Adhoc committee told Secretary, Pakistan Hockey Federation, Khalid Mahmood that they want to revive the series which was last held in 2006 on home and away basis. PHF official communicated to their Indian counterpart that Pakistan is also keen to hold the series but unable to commit before the Olympics, as for this mega event Pakistan hockey team is fully involved in preparing its team.

CNS Amateurs Golf Cup C’ship commencing tomorrow

Islamabad—Chief of Naval Staff ‘Amateurs Golf Cup Championship’ is scheduled to be held at Islamabad Golf Club from 09-11 May 2008. The championship was introduced in 2007 as part of continued efforts of Pakistan Navy to promote sports in the country in addition to meeting its operational responsibilities.

China to ensure environment friendly Olympic Games

Beijing—China has adopted a number of steps since 2007 and would continue to introduce measures to ensure environment friendly Olympic Games starting here from August 8. Addressing a press conference here at the Media Centre of the Beijing Olympics Wednesday the Deputy Director and spokesperson of the Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission Wang Haiping said that 2008 Action Plan envisages the goal of making the Olympic City both energy-efficient and environmentally friendly.

Lord’s open to staging neutral Tests & IPL
Monitoring Report

LORD’S could stage neutral Test matches and matches in the proposed Twenty20 Champions League to assist the MCC in fund raising as it plans to spend up to £200 million to redevelop the ground ahead of its bicentenary in 2014. A report it the Guardian today says that a number of proposals are being considered by Keith Bradshaw, the MCC’s secretary and chief executive, after a whistlestop visit to India over the weekend.

ACBS AGM to decide venue for 2009 Asian Snooker today

Dubai—The Annual General Meeting of Asian Confederation of Billiards Sports (ACBS) will be held here on today (Thursday) to finalize the venues for the next two competition. Secretary of ACBS Syed Mehboob said that Iran is interested in hosting next year’s 25th Asian championship while no country has bided for 2009 Asian Under-21 Snooker Champion.
