Sheikh Ayaz portrays miseries of suffering humanity

Staff Reporter

Islamabad—Sheikh Ayaz revolutionized almost all genres of Sindhi literature and was rightfully the greatest Sindhi poet of the 20th century.
These views were expressed by Ayaz Gul, a renowned Sindhi poet while presiding over “Sheikh Ayaz National Literary Conference” jointly organized by Shah Abdul Latif Cultural Organization and Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL).
He said that Sheikh Ayaz was equally acclaimed in progressive circles for his contribution to the advancement of human values. His death was a great loss to the national literature.
Ayaz Gul said that he portrayed the miseries of suffering humanity, the sorrows of the deprived and miserable condition of the masses in his time. His literary work was comprised of more than 70 books. He chose his own form, pattern and diction to express his feelings and message, he added.
Iftikhar Arif, Chairman PAL said that the history of Pakistani and Sindhi literature would remain incomplete without remembering literary services rendered by Sheikh Ayaz, a great poet and scholar.
He said that literature preserved in all the regional languages of the country collectively called national literature.
