ICT to protect rights of daily wage workers

Islamabad—Chief Commissioner Islamabad Hamid Ali Khan has said that Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration will ensure strict implementation of Minimum Wages Ord: 1961 and Shops and Establishment Ord: 1969 in letter and spirit in Islamabad.
He said that rights of all those working on daily wages would be protected and the violators would be dealt strictly.
The Chief Commissioner directed the concerned industrial and commercial units owners to ensure the welfare of the daily wages workers.
Meanwhile, Assistant Director Labor ICT fined 15 shops during checking of shops in commercial centers for the contravention Shops and Establishment Ord: 1969 and Minimum Wages Ord: 1961 and also submitted their challans in the court.
He directed the commercial establishment to ensure timely payment of wages to the workers as fixed under the law.
He also directed the private owners to keep all the record of workers in tact.
Assistant Director (Labor) informed that he had started checking of all industrial units and commercial centers to ensure strict implementation of laws in this regard.
He said that challans against 200 violators were submitted in the courts during the last month and the courts have imposed heavy fines on these violators.—APP
