PBC asked to exploit business potential of SAARC countries

Islamabad—The SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has stressed upon the Pakistan Business Council (PBC), Dubai to exploit economic potential of South Asian countries through creation of Joint ventures in mutually interested areas and foster partnership in industrial and services sectors. Speaking at a PBC meeting in Dubai, SCCI President Tariq Sayeed briefed the participants about SCCI, its role for achieving economic objectives and promoting SAFTA through enhanced economic cooperation between the member countries.
He identified various areas in industrial and services sector wherein huge potential was available and invited the PBC members to invest in SAARC member countries saying that after implementation of SAFTA, the economies of SAARC states were more open now. Tariq Sayeed was accompanied by Iftikhar Ali Malik, Vice President SCCI, Arshad Aalam, former Vice president, FPCCI, Zakria Usman and Majid Sultan Khawaja, life members, FPPCI. The dinner meeting was also attended by the Counselor Generals of Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
Sayeed also appreciated the economic policies of the UAE, particularly its vision to achieve growth through the active participation of expatriates, who presently contribute more than 90 per cent of the total economic activity. He was of the view that UAE’s policies must be followed to create business friendly environment and involve expatriates in economic growth.
