Tributes paid to lawyers for struggle to restore
judges
Staff Reporter
Peshawar — The chief minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has paid
glowing tributes to the lawyers community for their unprecedented
struggle for restoration and independence of the judiciary in the
country.
The sacrifices rendered by the lawyers for reinstatement of deposed
judges will not go in waste as the issue of judges is near to be
resolved, Hoti told a delegation of District Bar Association Mardan,
who called on him at his office on Tuesday.
Representatives of the People Lawyers Forum and Malgari Wakeelan
were also among the delegation.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said the political
parties in the government were backing the lawyers for their
struggle to restore the judiciary, saying with the support of civil
society and political forces, the lawyers were in sight of victory.
Referring to the law and order situation, Hoti said some vested
interests were involved in making the government efforts for peace a
failure. However, he said their sincere efforts would continue till
restoration of a lasting peace in the province and its adjacent
tribal belt. The fire which broke out in Waziristan reached the
province, but we will not allow it to gut our houses, the chief
minister said.
In order to cleanse the society of criminals, Hoti said his
government was taking administrative measures to improve the
security situation across the province.
He on this occasion appealed the masses to help the government in
its efforts to get rid of criminal activities including kidnapping
for ransom, extortion, car-lifting and robbery, etc. The goons will
not be allowed to make hostage the society, Hoti vowed.
