Nasrin reviews supply of daily use items
Karachi—Acting Nazim Karachi, Nasrin Jalil has said
that there is no shortage of meat and animals being brought here for
slaughtering. However, she said, an annual fee of Rs 50 is charges
for health certificate for animals being brought from other
Provinces as per city district government bylaws.
She said that prices of milk, atta, rice, fruit, meat and vegetables
had been fixed and citizens must ask for price list before buying
anything and in case of over-charging, report the same to concerned
DDO revenue for action against the shopkeeper.
Talking to DCO CDGK Javed Hanif at her office she said the
monitoring system against price spiral will be maintained. She asked
DCO to continue to focus specially on meat supply and price
stability and ensure that citizens does not face any difficulty in
getting items of daily use.
DCO Javed Hanif apprised the Acting Nazim about the action taken so
far against profiteers and said that large scale action was carried
out against them since April 2008 and DDOs Revenue continue to carry
out raids. He informed that in April Rs 2.1 million were recovered
as fine from milkmen for selling milk at higher rate while 225 were
sent to jail.
DCO said that retail price of milk has been fixed at Rs 34 and Rs 32
per litre as wholesale price.
Nasrin Jalil called for continued action against profiteers and said
the dairy farmers have been given the facilities which they did not
had in the past. She said that their 40 year old lease issue was
resolved, they were supply water and their roads constructed.
Acting Nazim asked the shopkeepers to ensure sale of items of daily
use as per government fixed rates.—APP
