Islamabad—Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani
and Co-Chairman PPP, Asif Ali Zardari have
agreed that by-elections must be held in the
first week of June. The Co-Chairman of the PPPP,
Asif Ali Zardari met the Prime Minister Syed
Yousuf Raza Gilani here at the Prime Minister’s
House on Tuesday evening. The half an hour
meeting was also attended by Ms. Sherry Rehman,
Federal Minister for Information and
Broadcasting. Both the leaders exchanged views
on the prevailing political situation as well as
party matters.
Washington—The United States has said it wanted
Pakistan to live up to its commitment of
urgently bringing security under control in its
remote tribal areas allegedly used as safe haven
by Al-Qaeda and Taliban militants.
Islamabad—Minister for Law and Justice Farooq H.
Naek Monday said findings of judges committee,
irrespective of that either it reached through
consensus or with difference of opinion, would
be presented before PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali
Zardari and PML-N Quaid Mian Muhammad Nawaz
Sharif.

directed the Ministry of Food & Agriculture to
ensure food security and approved the import of
250,000 tons of wheat immediately as the
international prices are showing downward trend
this year. He directed that staggered import of
1.5 million tons of wheat be made to meet the
expected shortfall of 1.5 million tons in the
country and take all necessary measures to
overcome food shortage all over the country.
Peshawar—A deadly suicide blast this time in
Bannu City Tuesday morning left at least four
people including cops dead and serious injuries
to around five others. The military and police
sources confirming the incident said a suicide
bomber riding an auto rickshaw detonated himself
at a check-post in Kot Beli area in Bannu
district. According to official sources, NWFP
Governor Awais Ghana was due in Bannu from
Miranshah North Waziristan agency an hour after
the explosion time.
THE discerning Pakistani citizen could,
retrospectively, validly conclude that this
state has never been under competent
