‘President not involved in deferment’

Islamabad—Aiwan-e-Sadr on Monday refuted all claims in which it has been said that By-elections has been postponed in the country on the directives/interference of President Musharraf.

Aiwan-e-Sadr sources said that Election Commission of Pakistan is an autonomous body, which takes its decision on its own.

Sources further made it clear that President Musharraf has not issued any directives regarding postponement of the by-elections.

Aiwan-e-Sadr sources were of the view that Election Commission of Pakistan has taken the decision in view of present circumstances in the country and the law and order situation in NWFP hence President Musharraf has nothing to do with it.—Online
