Shahbaz to contest polls from two constituencies

Hussain Kashif

Lahore—Mian Shahbaz Sharif, President Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has filed his nomination papers on Monday to contest by-elections from two provincial constituencies in Lahore PP-151 and PP-154.

The polls were postponed for Punjab Assembly constituency PP-151 due to death of PML-Q candidate Tariq Banday and PP-154 due to murder of PML-N candidate Chaudhry Asif Ashraf.

However, PML-N sources informed Pakistan Observer that Shahbaz Sharif would also contest election from Sialkot constituency PP-124 vacated by MNA Rana Abdul Sattar .

After filing his nomination papers before the returning officer here on Monday, Shahbaz Sharif while talking to journalists said that rejection of his nomination papers in the general elections was simply meant to block his entry. He expressed hope that the same injustice would not be repeated again.

Answering a question, Mian Shahbaz Sharif said that the deposed judges would be restored according to the agreed programme. He further said that the subordinate judiciary was in a crumbling state and the government would take steps to rectify it.
