SHOs to be trained on modern lines

Islamabad—The Police Order-2002 suggests complete transformation of police force in terms of professional skills, attitude towards common man, personality traits, character and integrity to enable it maintain the rule of law, said Director National Police Bureau (NPB) Ahmad Mukarram here Monday.

He was addressing the inaugural session of a three-day National Consultative Workshop on training modules for Station House Officers (SHOs) organized by NPB Ministry of Interior in collaboration with Access to Justice Program (AJP), Ministry of Law.

He said the SHOs constitute an important pillar of police force, their professional training on modern lines is very necessary for bringing transformation in police force.

The National Police Bureau (NPB) is playing a leadership role in transformation of the policing in accordance with the vision and mission of the Police Order 2002, he added.

Program Director AJP Afzal Kahut in his address said the AJP is undertaking a series of initiatives including introducing new concepts and techniques to bring about a change in the training system.

He added the participants of the workshop, having an in depth experience of field and training, can better suggest the specific areas of change like training syllabi for different ranks of the police in line with requirements of the 21st century and vision outlined in Police Order 2002.

This national level activity was attended by 30 police trainers of different Police Training Institutes and SHOs from all over Pakistan. Human Resource Specialist Prof. Javed Iqbal, Training Specialist, Israr Ul Haque, National Police Reform Specialist Ehsan Sadiq and Fayyaz Ahmad Sunbal also spoke on the occasion.—APP
