Fazl wants all PCO judges to go

Observer Report

Islamabad—Chief Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam (JUI-F) Maulana Fazl-ur- Rehman has said that the reinstatement of deposed judges by May 12 is impossible, adding that, if they were not reinstated in 30 days then how they would be reinstated in 12 days.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, he demanded the government to remove all PCO judges and also those who had taken oath under PCO earlier as mentioned in charter of democracy signed by Quaid Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Nawaz Sharif and late Former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

All major political parties must take decision based on national consensus for the development of the country, he said. Answering a question, he said that PPP and PML-N have to take decision regarding impeachment of President Pervez Musharraf.

Responding to a question, Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman said that he participated in the movement for the restoration of deposed Chief Justice as he was deposed by the dictator but now the issues have been complicated, he added.

He urged that now the government after ending the issues of the judiciary should focus on the problems facing by the people of the country. He opposed the countdown by the political parties of solving any problem.

Fazlur Rehman said, “ it will be no less than a miracle if the judges are restored in time.”

Fazlur Rehman said suppression of judiciary under emergency rule was an illegal action but maintained that no controversial person should become a judge.

He said that when the deposed judges could not be restored in 30 days’ how they could be reinstated within 10 days.

He said he would give his point of view on the issue after perusal of the text of the resolution for restoration of judges.
