Provision of quality flour to be ensured: Ikhlas

Rawalpindi—City District-Nazim Raja Javed Ikhlas has warned the shopkeepers to ensure provision of quality flour in Sunday bazaars on control prices saying no one would be allowed to sell sub-standard and poor quality products.

He expressed these views while inspecting various Sunday bazaars and markets in different areas of the city including Committee Chowk, Haidry Chowk and Cricket Stadium here on Sunday.

District Nazim said that supply of basic necessities of life including flour and other edibles should be ensured on control rates to the consumers saying the flour mills involved in illegal transportation of flour and smuggling and those supplying unhygienic and sub-standard flour would be banned and dealt with iron hand.

Ikhlas said that he would take up the matter with the Managing Director Utility Store Corporation (USC) and would ask him to provide more trucks of flour in the Rawalpindi weekly Bazaars in the spirit to ensure smooth and adequate supply of flour to the consumers on concessional rates.

Earlier, the District Nazim raided on various stalls and fined on the spot to those shopkeepers selling sub-standard edibles on high prices and also cancelled some six stalls in these Bazaars.

He warned that strict action would be taken against those who were involved in malpractices and selling goods on high prices.—APP
