2,389 women get marriage assistance from Zakat fund
Islamabad—The Government has so far released
Rs.123.86 million from Zakat fund for distribution as marriage
assistance among unmarried women in the four provinces and Northern
Areas in this year.
According to information collected from the Ministry of Religious
Affairs, Zakat and Ushr here, out of the released amount, Rs.27.16
million have been distributed among 2,389 beneficiaries at Rs.10,000
per person.
In Punjab province, Rs.81.69 million were released in two
installments as marriage assistance out of which Rs.17.53 million
have been disbursed among 1,753 unmarried women.
In Sindh province, 104 unmarried women were paid Rs.1.04 million as
marriage assistance while one instalment of Rs.16.88 million was
released against budget allocation of Rs.33.77 million.
According to official sources, the remaining amount will be released
before the end of current financial year.
In NWFP, an amount of Rs.7.58 million were disbursed among 430
unmarried women as marriage assistance.
Two installments amounting to Rs.19.68 were allocated for this
purpose and the entire amount has been released to the province.
In Balochistan province, 27 women were paid Rs.0.264 million as
marriage assistance.
The province got Rs.3.63 million against budgetary allocation of
Rs.7.28 million for this year.
An amount of Rs. 0.936 million were allocated in the budget for
unmarried women as marriage assistance for the Islamabad Capital
Territory (ICT) out of which an instalment of Rs.0.468 million have
been released.
In the Northern Areas of the country, 75 unmarried women were paid
Rs.0.749 million.
An amount of Rs.1.51 million were allocated in the budget for this
purpose and the entire amount was released.—APP
