Silver Jubilee of SSUET’s Journal ‘Tehzib’

Karachi—”Tehzib”, the bi-monthly journal of Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology had its silver jubilee on completion of 25 years of its publication

A symbol of knowledge and awareness, the journal is the spokesman of “Fikr-e-Sir Syed”.

Engr Mohammed Zakir Ali Khan, Honorary General Secretary of Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys Association is the Chief Editor of this literary publication and its editorial board incluldes persons like Z.A. Nizami, President AMUOBA and Chancellor Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology.

The Journal’s Silver Jubilee edition was launched at an impressive ceremony held at Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys Association. A unique features of the ceremony was that two most eminent and senior Aligarhians and men of integrity of their times - Abrar Hasan Khan and Nusrat Hasan were chief guests on the occasion.

Abrar Hasan had done his Masters at Aligarh University in 1934 while Nastrat Hasan did his Masters there in 1944

“Tehzib” made its debut in April 1983 and completed its 25 years of publication in April 2008.

The Journal was continued to be edited by Dr Abul Lais Siddiqi for 11 years until he passed away in September 6, 1994 whereafter Engr Zakir Ali Khan took the responsibility of its being the Chief Editor.

Speaking briefly on the occasion, Abrar Hasan said that he had only felicitations and prayers for this journal. He said today its silver jubilee has been celebrated and in future golden and diamond jubilees too would be celebrated

Nusrat Hasan said that today’s ceremony is mind and heart refreshing and makes our spirits to grow further.

He paid tributes to its Chief Editor Zakir Ali Khan and Chancellor SSUET Z.A. Nizami who, he said, are serving the cause of Aligarh spirit without any returns.

He said the present era is very sensitive. He said that to build anything takes years to complete but only few moments to demolish.

He said that if the country and nation is to be served then Aligarh spirit will have to be followed and due to which Pakistan was attained.—APP
