Abolishment of approved seats
Various faculties closed in Rawalpindi colleges


Rawalpindi—Many faculties in various boys and girls colleges of Rawalpindi district have been closed due to non-recruitment and abolishment of approved seats of senior professors.

The facultlies of subjects including History, Journalism, Physical Education, Social Work, Geography, Persian, English and Urdu have been closed and more faculties are likely to be closed due to shortage and retirement of teachers.

Nine degree colleges were set up due to efforts of former Federal Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, have not been started due to no-provision of science laboratories and teachers.

Sources said there were no sports activities in several colleges due to non-appointment of physical education teachers. The subject of Social Work is also not being taught at Government Asghar Mall Post Graduate College after the retirement of teacher of that subject.

The subjects of History, Journalism, Physical Education are not being taught in Government College Satellite Town, Rawalpindi, and the situation is the same in the other colleges of Rawalpindi Division, sources added.—Online
