Severe heat wave hits Karachi, interior Sindh

Karachi—Severe heat wave hit Karachi and interior Sindh on Friday as temperature rose to 43 degrees centigrade.

The rise in the temperature came due to blowing of northerly winds to wards the city, affecting not only routine life but also hitting business activities.

The humidity in Karachi declined to six percent from normal 40 percent due to hovering heat wave. Most of the people were compelled to stay at their homes.

A low number of citizens turned to business markets in Saddar, Tariq Road and others areas. The students were also affected by heat wave.

An official at Meteorological Department said that the intensity of heat in Karachi would persist for next three to four days after which the temperature would turn normal.

He said that heat wave however continue to hit interior Sindh cities including Nawabshah, Larkana, Sukkur, Khairpur and other towns for next several days.

The official said that the temperature in Nawabshah and Hyderabad remained above 43.0 degree centigrade.

Reports said that people in almost all villages and towns of interior Sindh were compelled to remain indoors because of heat wave.

The load-shedding added to the miseries of heat-stricken people, who have been forced to pass sleepless nights due to power outages.—PPI
