Restoration of judiciary
Countdown started from PM oath taking date: Hashmi

Tahir Rashid

Rawalpindi—All the parties in ruling coalition are united to restore the deposed judges including Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry in one month after the date on which Prime Minister took oath. Even supremacy of the parliament is not possible without independence of judiciary.

This was said by Vice President of PML (N) and MNA Makhdoom Javed Hashmi while addressing the District Bar Association Rawalpindi.

He said that President Musharraf and his cohorts have adopted the way of violence, massacre and terrorism after getting frustrated in putting splits the ruling alliance. But Musharraf should know the fact that now Pak Army would never support his illegal steps.

He expressed his deep concern over the violent attacks on Arbab Ghulam Rahim and Dr. Sher Afgan Niazi but said these incidents were not as big as the episodes of May 12 and April 9 that took place at Karachi.

He said that action should be taken against President Musharraf in accordance with article 6 of the constitution for violating the constitution and using armed forces against countrymen.

“Now time has come to decide whether supremacy of law would exist or orders of one dictator would be continued in the country. Whoever defies Murree Accord would be responsible for the tyranny with the blood of Benazir Bhutto and banishment of Nawaz Sharif”, he added.

Hashmi said development is not possible without human rights. Always leaders from middle class bring revolution in the country.

He said that the previous assemblies had undemocratic accords and made the constitution nose of wax on the desire of autocrats. Only elections alone could not cause the democracy in the country.
