Tariq says efforts on to promote trade in SAARC

Sialkot—President SAARC Chamber of Commerce Tariq Sayeed has said that adequate efforts were being made for the promotion of trade activities among the SAARC countries. Talking to media persons here at Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) here on Friday, he said that special attention has also been given on developing strong trade ties between Pakistan India.

Tariq Sayeed pointed out that previously trade relations between the two neighbouring countries were not healthy due to certain reasons adding that things are moving in right direction and both Pakistan and India were making strenuous efforts for enhancing the trade relations, which is a healthy sign, said the President SAARC Chamber of Commerce.

Apart from this, the SAARC Chamber was also considering to bring nearer the SAARC member states for developing healthy and strong trade relations, which would not only help in establishing joint ventures and collaborations but also supportive for providing an opportunity one-to-one meetings for the business communities enabling them to understand each others requirements, he added.

Tariq Sayeed further said that with the collective efforts of the members SAARC forum would be further strengthened for the promotion of trade and commerce activities in the region.

The President SAARC Chamber of Commerce disclosed that United States of America, European Union, Iran, South Korea, Japan and China had become the observers of SAARC. He said solid efforts were direly needed for creating the awareness about the importance of SAARC among the business communities adding that SAARC Chamber of Commerce has already taken concrete steps in this regard.—APP
