CDA to launch mega projects soon: Lashari

Islamabad—Capital Development Authority (CDA) would soon launch maga projects for the development of the city, including 22 under-passes and expansion of Kashmir and Islamabad Highway. Chairman CDA, Kamran Lashari expressed these views while addressing a tree-plantation ceremony held here Thursday at the site of National Press Club, F-6/1 Islamabad.

He appreciated the role of media and said that Press Club of a city reflects the attitude and standard of the media. He expressed satisfaction that the construction work of Press Club building would start soon. He appreciated the efforts made by the Press Club body to approve 220 million rupees for the construction of Press Club building.

Talking about the development projects, he said that all the projects were part of the Master Plan and would be completed soon. The projects of Damn-e-Koh, Saidpur Model Village, Rawal Lake, Cultural Complex, construction of parks and play-grounds in different sectors of Islamabad are the few of them, he added.

Chairman CDA said that clean and green Islamabad campaign would be launched very soon to keep the city clean and green. He said that Islamabad would become more vibrant and dynamic city in the future.

He underlined the need of cooperation of civil society and especially media for creating awareness among masses regarding beautification of the city.

Moving ahead, we would achieve our goals together, he said. President Islamabad Press Club, Mushtaq Minhas in his welcome note appreciated the role of Kamran Lashari in the acquisition of land for Press Club. He termed Press Club as the second home of a Journalist. We were homeless, he said, as there was no Press Club building in Islamabad for the last sixty years.

He said that the availability of land was a difficult task but Chairman CDA made it possible. He lauded the role of former Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, Muhammad Ali Durrani, Shahid Rafi and other officials for the provision of land for Press Club.

He said that it was a dream, which would come into reality soon. He hoped that the new government would continue the development projects of the previous government.—PPI
