Tax professionals at Saarc tax summit

Karachi—Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Federal Minister for Commerce will inaugurate the SAARC TAX SUMMIT being attended by the tax professionals from all over South Asian countries on April 15 in Karachi. The Tax summit has been designed specially for the Business Community, Tax Consultants, Lawyers and Advisers Chartered Accountants, Management Accountants, Finance and Tax Personnel of domestic and multinational enterprises and government officials and tax administration Authorities, especially the policy makers, they further pointed out.

The Commerce Minister will speak on ‘Fiscal and Trade policies of SAARC Region-Vision 2020’. The moot will be organized under the auspices of the Income Tax Bar Association Karachi (ITBAK) and the Nutshell Forum. It said that prominent tax professionals from all the SAARC countries will read papers during the different sessions of two day summit and will carry out in-depth analysis on the merits and demerits of the tax system prevailing in the SAARC countries.

In a joint statement about South Asian Tax Summit 2008, Muhammad Azfar Ahsan (Global, CEO, Nutshell Forum, Abdul Qadir Memon, President, ITBAK, and S. M. Shabbar Zaidi, President, SAFA said, “We are appreciative of the speakers who will be coming to Pakistan for this conference. We are optimistic that the two day South Asian Summit will provide us a platform to restructure the regional tax system.
