Four-day Horse & Cattle show

Faisalabad— A new national record has been set in milk production
during a 4-day National Horse & Cattle Show which concluded here on
Thursday at University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF). The previous
record of buffalo milking competition was 27 Litres which has been
broken by black queen buffalo of Nazir Ahmad Sona Gujjar r/o
Jaranwala road with 28.63 Litres in 24 hours.
There were three categories of contesting milking animals namely
Sahiwal Cow, Cross Breed Cow and Ravi Neili buffalo.
More than 250 milking animals took part from various parts of the
country in the category of Neili Ravi buffalo. The buffalo of Haji
Ahmad Yar Khan of Phalia Qadirabad Mandi Baha-ud-Din won 2nd
position with trophy and cash prize of Rs 20,000/-. Third prize went
to Buffalo of Ali Ahmad Gujjar of Chak 27, south Sargodha with
production of 27.49 litres. He got cash prize of Rs 10,000/- and a
trophy while the first prize winner got Rs 30,000/- and a trophy.
In the category of Sahiwal Cow, Muhammad Ijaz Akbar of 77/SR Sahiwal
got the first prize with 21.97 litres milk. Meanwhile, the cows of
Muhammad Din Jutt Barkat Pura Road Chak No. 224 obtained 2nd and 3rd
positions with 15.74 and 14.39 litres respectively. In cross breed
cow category, the Gulshan Cow of Mian Javed Akhtar Pervez (Arien) of
Multan got 1st prize of Rs 30,000/- with 39.58 litres milk. Whereas
the Cows of Rana Munawar Khan Chak No. 204 R.B. got 2nd and 3rd
positions with 34.54 and 28.17 litres milk production respectively.
Interesting competition was seen among the three leading
tent-pegging clubs on final day of show.
