Students’ week Sports, cultural activities at Arid varsity in full swing

Islamabad—Sports and cultural activities in Arid Agricultural University Rawalpindi continued with full swing even on the second day of the students’ week being celebrated in the university.

Musical chair, three-leg race, handkerchief snatching, decoration of flowers are among the competitions held at the varsity and participated by the enthusiastic students on the second day of the annual event.

In the contest of decoration of flowers, Sholine Kanwal got first position while Sadaf Mehreen stood second. Nur-us Saba got first position in the decoration of dry flowers.

Mohammed Shoaib topped among boys in the competition of the Musical Chair while Sera Niaz bagged first position among the female contestants.

The team of Agriculture faculty defeated the Veterinary faculty team in the competitions of the rope pulling and handkerchief snatching. Whereas the Veterinary faculty team stood first in the three-leg race against the second position bagged by the team of the faculty of Agriculture.

Later, while addressing the students, the Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Dr Khalid Mehmood Khan hailed the performance of the students. He said the students’ week is aimed at providing ample opportunities to the students for extra-curricular activities.

Khan said extra-curricular activities play a pivotal role towards enhancing physical vis a vis mental capabilities of the students.

He said students can ameliorate their skills by taking parties in such co-curricular activities and it also provides them with an opportunity to interact with each other in a more affable manner.—APP
