IRM, IU sign agreement for
academic collaboration
Islamabad—A Deed of Agreement (DoA) for academic collaboration
between Iqra University (IU) and the Institute for Rural Management
(IRM) Islamabad was signed here on Tuesday.
IRM is on the forefront of vocational and development training for
both rural management professionals and those from rural areas who
need a boost in order to mobilize themselves.The DoA was signed by
Dr. Jamil Ahmad, Dean of IU and Roomi Saeed Hayat, Executive
Director IRM in order to develop various academic awards such as
post-graduate diplomas, short courses, and for certification of the
Women’s Leadership Programme (WLP) at IRM.The WLP is a cutting-edge
programme aimed at enabling women professionals in the rural
development sector to contend for managerial positions. Saeed Hayat
said that “Women do not get the same opportunities as men for
management roles”.
With this collaboration, women who have completed Cohort I and II of
WPL will be able to transfer credits onto a Master’s programme at
Iqra University.Jamil Ahmad said “We hope that this agreement will
be the road of empowerment and success for many women and men in the
burgeoning field of rural development.” Ijaz Khaliq and Adnan
Mubarak from NRSP was also there from IRM.—APP
