Bilour directs CDMD to expedite city uplift

Staff Reporter

Peshawar—The NWFP Senior Minister and Minister for Local Govt and Rural Development Bashir Ahmad Bilour has instructed all the concerned authorities to ensure the timely and quality completion of all the ongoing projects for urban development including construction and widening of roads, beautification of the city and provision of basic civic facilities to the people in Peshawar while new projects involving heavy funds should be avoided any how.

Addressing a briefing by the CDMD at Hayatabad Peshawar he further directed to construct under passes instead of fly-overs on important squares of the congested traffic highways to improve the traffic system in the city. He asked for preparing feasibility of at least 10 under-passes immediately at various places including Haji Camp, Gul Bahar, Hashtnagri, Jinnah Park, Soekarno Chowk, Bacha Khan Chowk, Tehkal, University Town and Board Chowk. He assured that funds for this purpose would be arranged well in time while maps have also been acquired from Lahore and Karachi cities.

Bashir Bilour also directed for installation of traffic signals at important squires of the city circular road including Ramdas, Dabgari, Sarki, Kohati, Yakatoot and Gunj Gates, saying that it would help in controlling the traffic jam for hours and easing difficulties of the citizens in this regard.

He said that all the concerned authorities must complete developmental schemes in their personal supervision instead of wasting times in their offices while he would himself inspect ongoing schemes time and again as well and would never hesitate punishing the absent or lethargic officials.
