CAA earns record profit of Rs 7b

Rawalpindi—Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has received a revenue profit of Rs. 7 billion during the last fiscal year as efforts are underway for restructuring, revamping and up-gradation of the Aviation system to enhance performance in view of the advanced technology. According to an annual performance report issued by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) here, a multi-storey Aviation Tower (AT) of international standard, equipped with latest and modern facilities, with the estimated cost of Rs. 4.5 billion, would be constructed in Blue area Islamabad, in which the airlines from all over the world, operating in Pakistan would establish their offices, said the report.

Meanwhile, the Director General CAA Farooq Rehmat Ullah, in view of the revenues generated by the authority in the last financial year has announced a package of bonus to award the officials irrespective of grade and post, as three categories have been set in this regard to give one to three months basic salaries to the officials on the basis of their performance.

The outstanding officials would be given three basic salaries and those having very good and good performance reports would be awarded two and one month basic salaries respectively.

Besides the New Islamabad International Airport (NIIA) number of mega development projects have been launched by CAA in different parts of the country to help revamp and improved the structure in view of the future needs and help facilitate of the passengers, as besides commercial development sector, major emphasis has been on improvement in regulatory & operational functions of CAA by introducing and up gradation of present and new equipment systems.

The report further said that the new Islamabad International Airport to be built outside the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi with an estimated cost of US $ 250 to 300 Million, at an area of more than 3,200 acres land, as 2,000 acres area would be utilized for aviation related activities, while the rest 1,500 acres of land has been earmarked for commercial development including construction of 4-star hotel, duty free shopping plaza, business center, food courts, international convention center, shopping plaza, cargo village and also other commercial and housing projects.—APP
