Islamabad—The Higher Education Commis sion is
pursuing a plan to work with the industrial
sector for enhancing the power of national
research base and assisting educational
institutions in identifying and fostering
excellence, an HEC official said Saturday.
The official said plan focuses on developing a
research sector that is dynamic and has the
capacity to respond flexibility to a changing
research environment. He said the key feature of
the plan is its dynamism, openness and ability
to bring change and promote new trends and
developments in various disciplines and in the
research environment.
Islamabad—Member of Council of Islamic Ideology
(CII) and Rector International Islamic
University, Dr. Manzoor Ahmed has asked the
people not to be provoked over re-printing of
blasphemous caricatures in Danish newspapers.
“Politics has entered to the matter of
blasphemous caricatures and the motive behind
this move is to irritate Muslims,” he said
taking part in a literary debate over issue of
re-printing of blasphemous caricatures in
Denmark.

During this three-day event (28 Feb to 1st
March), competitions in Qirat, Naat, Quiz,
Declamation and Poetry were conducted among the
contestant Colleges of Rawalpindi, Islamabad and
Peshawar.
Islamabad—Ministries of Population Welfare and
Health has worked out a comprehensive strategy
to jointly work for ensuring quality life for
the masses.
In this regard, the two ministries will
establish a ‘National Core Group”, to work out
solutions for existing programmatic constraints
being faced by the ministries by engaging all
stakeholders, especially the Provincial Health
and Population Welfare Departments.
A source in the ministry of Population Welfare
said the Group representing all stakeholders,
will meet on quarterly basis and will be
co-chaired by the Federal Minister of health and
Population Welfare.
Islamabad—The Federal Government Employees
Housing Foundation (FGEHF) has failed to acquire
land for Sector G-14 despite the passage of four
years when it launched the sector and received
full instalments.
The inordinate delay in acquisition of land by
FGEHF has almost doubled the cost of plots and
built up property in Sector G-14, a source in
the foundation told APP. The sector was launched
for federal government employees by FGEHF in
2003 to meet the growing demand of housing units
in the federal capital but after a lapse of four
years the foundation has failed to acquire land
due to tussle with the land owners, hindering
development work in Sector G-14/1,2,3.
