Western powers conspiring against Islam: Ghafoor

Karachi—Islam is the fastest spreading religion in the world and Western powers, particularly the USA, are hatching conspiracies against it, said Naib Amir Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan Prof. Ghafoor Ahmed, addressing a big rally on M A Jinnah Road, here on Sunday. The rally was organized by the JI Karachi under its “Tahafuz-e-Namoos-e-Risalat” campaign against the re-publication of blasphemous sketches of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

Works deptt directed to speed up uplift projects
Mustafa visits under construction projects


Karachi—Nazim Karachi, Syed Mustafa Kamal has directed the Works and Services department to further speed up the work on development projects particularly complete the under-construction bridges, flyovers and roads immediately so that transport problems are lessened to maximum.
He stated this during a 5 and a half over visit inspection visit of under-construction schemes on Sunday night.
EDO Works, Project Directors of various schemes, officials of works and services department, contractors and representatives of consultant firms were also present on the occasion.

19 UNIDO’s assisted testing labs for quality control

Karachi—Pakistani exporters can avail quality inspection and testing facilities at 19 internationally accredited laboratories in Pakistan.
This was stated by Chief Technical Advisor of Trade Related Technical Assistance Programme (TRTA) of UNIDO, Zawdu Felleke during a briefing at Trade Development Authority (TDAP) here Saturday. “These labs have successfully participated in 35 international proficiency testing schemes”, he added.

Need to change system: Cowasjee

Karachi—Changing faces cannot bring a revolution; the need of time is to change the system not to curse the system that conquered us, said columnist, Ardeshir Cowasjee in a session organised by Pakistan Medical Association (PMA-Karachi), here on Saturday evening. Sharing his views with physicians and surgeons in a programme “An Evening with Cowasjee,” he observed that a wave of grief, desperation and sense of failure prevailed in the country since death of Quaid e Azam and unfortunately no successor had ever tried to change the situation rather everyone acted as catalyst further worsening the situation.

KU announces date for submission of MA exam forms

Karachi—The University of Karachi has notified the date for submission of examination forms of MA/double MA and improvement of division for external annual examination 2007 (to be held in 2008) as per following schedule. According to release, the examination fee of Rs1550 for MA previous/final/double MA/improvement of division along with exam forms and documents will be accepted from 3 to 15 March 2008.
